In short
To compare business SIM only deals, work out the total cost over the whole term, not the headline monthly price. Size each line's data on real usage, check the contract length, confirm prices are ex VAT, add the published annual price rises, and look at spend caps, roaming and multi-SIM pricing. Then remove any lines you no longer use.

Why the headline price is not the deal
Business SIM only deals are advertised on a monthly price, but the number that matters is what the plan costs your business over the whole term, across every line, once price rises, add-ons and out-of-allowance charges are included. A low monthly price on a plan that is too small can cost more than a larger plan once extra data is added, and a long term can lock in a price rise you did not factor in.
That is why "cheap business SIM card" searches rarely lead to a cheap result on their own. A deal that is good value for one team can be poor value for another, because the right allowance, term and controls depend on how your people work. This page sets out what to check, in the order we check it when we prepare a quote. Networks change their offers often, so we compare the current options for your team each time you ask us for a quote.
Start with what you actually use
Before you compare anything, gather the facts about your current lines. A recent bill or the usage report from your network's online account will show, for each number:
- Data used each month: look at several months, not one, so a holiday or a busy month does not skew the picture
- Hotspot and tethering use: staff who share their phone's connection with a laptop use far more data than those who do not
- Calls and texts to non-standard numbers: international calls and premium numbers are often charged outside the plan
- Roaming: which staff travel, where to and how often
- Lines with little or no use: numbers attached to people who have left, old devices or forgotten SIMs
With that in hand you can size each line on evidence. Some people need a large or unlimited data business SIM; many need far less. Plans built on shared or pooled data can suit teams with uneven usage, and our guide to business SIM only plans explains the structures networks use.
What to check in every deal
| Check | What to look for |
|---|---|
| Total cost over the term | Monthly price x months x lines, plus any one-off charges, with annual price rises added |
| Contract length | 24-month, 12-month or rolling monthly; what you give up for a lower monthly price |
| VAT | Business prices are normally shown ex VAT; check whether you can reclaim it with your accountant |
| Annual price rises | How and when the price changes each year, as set out in the network's terms |
| Allowance fit | Data sized on real usage, with a view on whether shared data suits the team |
| Out-of-allowance charges | What happens when data runs out: charged, slowed or stopped |
| Spend caps | Whether you can cap data, calls and roaming per line |
| Roaming | Which destinations are included, any daily charges and fair use limits |
| Early termination | What it costs to leave or remove a line before the term ends |
| Account tools | Online account, usage reports and how lines are added or removed |
Networks publish these details in their plan terms, and the details differ between networks and between plans. When you ask us for a quote, we can set them out for each option so you can compare like with like.

Contract length and flexibility
Business SIM only is sold on more than one term, from 24 and 12-month plans to rolling monthly plans, and each network sets its own options. A longer term usually comes with a lower monthly price, while a short or rolling term gives you freedom to change or leave with little notice.
The right choice depends on how settled your team is. If headcount is stable and usage is predictable, a longer term can make sense. If you are growing, running a project with an end date or unsure about a network's coverage, a shorter term or a mix of terms can be the safer route. Remember that each line can have its own end date, which matters when you later want to move everyone at once. Our guide to business SIM only contracts covers terms, notice and early termination charges in more detail.
Ex VAT pricing and annual price rises
Business mobile prices are normally quoted excluding VAT, and the networks show their business prices that way. When you compare a business deal with a personal plan, add VAT back to the business price or take it off the personal one, otherwise the comparison is misleading. Whether your business can reclaim the VAT is a question for your accountant.
Networks also publish how prices change each year during the contract, usually from April, and your quote and contract show how the rise applies to your lines. Check the figure multiply it across your lines and the remaining years of the term, and include it in your total. A deal that looks cheaper in year one can cost more by the end of a 24-month term.

Spend caps, roaming and extra charges
The cheapest deal on paper can become expensive if a single line runs up roaming or out-of-allowance charges. Business accounts give you tools to prevent that, chiefly spend caps that can limit data, calls and roaming on a line. Ask how caps work on each option: whether they apply per line, what happens when a cap is reached and who can change them.
Roaming deserves its own check. Some plans include roaming in a list of destinations, some charge a daily fee and some include nothing. "Unlimited" plans usually carry fair use limits when abroad. If your staff travel, list where they go before comparing deals.
Multi-SIM and multibuy plans
Several networks package teams differently from single lines. Three Business has Multibuy SIM plans for up to 9 unlimited data SIMs, with optional inclusive roaming on the SIMs that need it (unlimited usage is UK only, with fair use policies in Go Roam destinations). Larger organisations often move onto plans with shared data and account-level pricing.
Multi-SIM plans give good value when every SIM in the bundle is needed and the allowance fits each person, and we size them that way in a quote. Our page on what a multi SIM is explains the other meanings of the term, and fleet SIM cards covers running many lines on one account.
Remove unused lines before you compare
One of the simplest ways to cut the cost of business mobiles has nothing to do with the deal itself. Many organisations pay for numbers that nobody uses: lines kept after staff left, SIMs in devices that were retired, or data SIMs from a project that ended. Before you compare, list every number on the account and confirm who or what uses it. Lines that are not needed can be ended at the right point in their term rather than carried into a new agreement.
If you do need to keep a number that is not in daily use, for example one that customers still ring, a low-cost plan may be enough. When you are ready to move, our guide to how to keep your number explains PAC and STAC codes.
Ask us for a quote
The right deal depends on your team, your coverage and the timing of your current contracts, so we build it around you. We gather your usage, check coverage where your people work and set out options on EE Business and Three Business, and on O2 Business and Vodafone Business where they fit, with the total cost, term and controls for each one. You then decide.
Contact us with the number of lines you have, your current network and when your contracts end, and ask us for a quote. If you are a team of ten or fewer, our guide to SIM only for small businesses is a useful next read.
How Forever Communications helps with business SIM only
We help UK organisations choose, switch and run business SIM only plans, data SIMs and eSIMs for the phones and devices they already own.
- Start with what you have: we look at your current contracts, end dates, users, devices and how much data people really use before suggesting anything new
- More than one network: we supply SIM only plans on EE Business and Three Business, and we can also supply O2 Business and Vodafone Business, so you can choose by coverage where your people work
- Keep your numbers: we help you plan the move with PAC codes or STAC codes so existing business mobile numbers come with you

Frequently asked questions
How do I compare business SIM only deals?
Compare the total cost over the whole term across all your lines, not the headline monthly price. Size each line's data on real usage, check the contract length, confirm prices are ex VAT, add the published annual price rises and check spend caps, roaming and early termination charges.
Are business SIM only prices shown with or without VAT?
Business prices are normally shown excluding VAT, and your quote shows them that way. Add VAT back when comparing with a personal plan, and ask your accountant whether you can reclaim it.
What is the cheapest business SIM card?
There is no single cheapest option for every business. A low monthly price on a plan that is too small can cost more once extra data or roaming is added. The lowest total cost comes from sizing each line on real usage and choosing the right term.
Do networks have multibuy plans for several SIMs?
Yes. Networks package several SIMs together for teams; Three Business, for example, has Multibuy SIM plans for up to 9 unlimited data SIMs with optional inclusive roaming. Larger teams often move to shared data plans. We can set out the options for you in a quote.
Can I get a business SIM only deal without a long contract?
Yes. Networks sell rolling monthly SIM only plans alongside longer terms; Three Business, for example, has 1-month SIM Only plans. Shorter terms usually cost more each month but let you change or leave with little notice.
